چکیده

Background Incidence of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction is increasing and putting the emphases on comprehensive evaluation of diastolic function. Furthermore, diastolic dysfunction even in the absence of heart failure has been shown to have prognostic significance. American Society of Echocardiography and European Association of Echocardiography (ASE/EAE) 2-level decision tree using multi-parametric approach is comprehensive, however discrepancy between the LV filling pressures and LA volume index can lead to discordance and inaccurate assessment of diastolic function. Incremental value of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) to Echocardiography in assessment of diastolic function remains unknown. Aim: To assess incremental role of CMR derived LA volume index in classifying diastolic function by Echocardiography.

Quantitative cardiac MR assessment of left ventricular diastology

Background Cardiac MR (CMR) is the accepted gold standard for the assessment of myocardial scar and biventricular systolic function. Bright blood cine imaging with phase-contrast mitral inflow assessment has shown promise for the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) diastology. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of LV diastolic function grading by CMR, using Doppler echocardio...

Detecting left ventricular impaired relaxation in cardiac MRI using moving mesh correspondences

UNLABELLED Anatomical cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is widely used to assess the systolic cardiac function because of its high soft tissue contrast. Assessment of diastolic LV function has not regularly been performed due the complex and time consuming procedures. This study presents a semi-automated assessment of the left ventricular (LV) diastolic function using anatomi...

MRI assessment of diastolic dysfunction in comparison to transthoracic echocardiography

Background Over the last decade the interest in diastolic dysfunction has grown, due to the fact that at least half of all cases of newly diagnosed heart failure patients present with preserved ejection fraction. One of the most important tasks of cardiovascular imaging is the objective assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic function, which is routinely performed with standa...

Cardiac MRI correlates of diastolic left ventricular function assessment by echocardiography

Background Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) provides noninvasive measures of diastolic left ventricular (LV) function by assessing mitral inflow and mitral annular motion. Given the excellent spatial and temporal resolution of CMR, we developed a novel method to calculate several correlative measures of diastolic and systolic LV function. The maximum velocity of the atrioventricular junctio...

Evaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)

The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...
